COVID-19 Update!

Before your visit to the clinic, please review our COVID-19 procedures:

  • Stay home if you are ill or if you have been in contact with someone who is diagnosed with COVID-19.

  • As per BC Ministry of Health policy, you are required to wear a medical mask before entering the premises (cloth masks are no longer allowed).

  • Only come within 5 minutes of your appointment.

  • Please attend your appointment alone or with one accompanying adult (if the patient is a minor or if a translator is needed.)

  • We will require completion of the COVID-19 screening questionnaire before your appointment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ALLERGIES

​

This is your immune system overreacting to common things in your home and/or work environment including pets, pollen, dust mites or molds.

FOOD ALLERGIES

 

This is your immune system recognizing food as harmful and reacting to the food. This can categorized as IgE or non-IgE mediated food allergies.

ASTHMA

 

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory airways disease that can cause shortness of breath, wheeze, cough or chest tightness . There are various possible triggers to asthma and one of them can be allergies! 

CHRONIC HIVES

 

Up to 1% of persons can experience this truly significant condition. Although not dangerous causes significant discomfort and decrease in quality of life. 

IMMUNODEFICIENCY

 

This is a breakdown in one or more parts of the immune system that can pre-dispose an individual to recurrent and/ or severe infections.

ATOPIC DERMATITIS
​

This is a chronic inflammatory skin condition, characterized by dry skin, with patches that are red and intensely itchy. Although it  presents in childhood up to 50% of adults with atopic dermatitis can experience this in adulthood. 

DRUG ALLERGIES

 

Assessment and testing for various medication allergies including penicillin, anesthetics, NSAIDS/ASA and vaccines.

VENOM ALLERGIES

 

We assess allergic reactions to honey bee, wasp, yellow-faced hornet, white-faced hornet and yellow jacket.

At Surrey Allergy clinic, although a large part of our practice is allergy, we also are knowledgeable in autoinflammatory conditions, immunodefiencies, vasculitis and atopic dermatititis.

We pride ourselves in using evidence based research to manage all conditions. Our aim is to help you manage your symptoms so that you can optimize your quality of life and focus on what is important  to you.

 

Conditions we assess include, but are not limited to, food allergy, drug allergy, hay fever, asthma, eczema, hives, anaphylaxis, eosinophilic esophagitis, insect sting reactions  and immunotherapy.
